Aubrey LaFortune

Style: Coast Salish

Aubrey LaFortune, born in 1966, is the youngest of six brothers and has numerous sisters.  Born and raised in Victoria on Vancouver Island Aubrey resides in the same village as four of his five brothers.  Like most of the other LaFortune brothers, he has adopted carving as a full time career.  Aubrey started his career young by sanding and painting for his elder brothers Doug LaFortune and Francis Horne.  He began taking on his own projects at the age of twenty-two, and since then has taken the Indian art to new levels with his continually evolving style.  Aubrey is frequently commissioned to create masks, totem poles and large sculptures.  His works are highly sought after by collectors due to his high rate of private sales.
